Broadband Services

In keeping with its fundamental purpose, CIPA has shown its leadership through the development of a sustainable rural development model based on information and communications technologies (ICT) and was selected as community champion responsible for the Broadband for Rural Development project in New Brunswick. In November 2003, in light of such strong leadership, both the Government of New Brunswick and the Government of Canada and Aliant committed a total of 44.6M$ to the implementation of broadband services in rural New Brunswick.

CIPA will continue to play an important role in this project by increasing its partnerships with rural New Brunswick communities in the implementation of a smart rural communities network that will promote community development through the use of new information and communications technologies via high-speed Internet.
