Major announcement regarding broadband in New Brunswick

(Paquetville, Tuesday, November 18, 2020) - The Collectivité ingénieuse de la Péninsule acadienne (CIPA) inc. was very happy to learn that an agreement has been reached between both levels of government and Aliant, that will help provide broadband access to all residents of New Brunswick.

This financial agreement, in the amount of 44.6 million dollars, was concluded this morning by Mr. Bernard Lord, Prime Minister of New Brunswick, Mr. Allan Rock, Industry Minister and Minister responsible for Infrastructure, and Mr. Jay Forbes, president and CEO of Aliant.

This money will provide for the launch of an important process leading to the delivery of broadband services to most rural communities throughout the province. The Collectivité ingénieuse de la Péninsule acadienne (CIPA) inc. has worked closely with the province in the elaboration of a sustainable plan for the implementation of a broadband infrastructure in New Brunswick communities.

CIPA will continue to play an important role in this project by intensifying its joint efforts with the province’s rural communities to encourage the use of new information and communications technologies through high-speed access.
